decent SPD trail/AM shoes that don't look "special"

So after ruining my five ten hellcats after a year of wearing them (not great), I may be in the market for some new shoes soon. I want something similar to the Hellcats - IE a skater type shoe with a nice big sole for SPD pedals with a cage. Any suggestions for something EITHER cheaper, or just as expensive but longer lasting? £90 for a pair of shoes that doesn't last more than a year is just daft.
Oh, and I'm not after XC disco slippers and I'd like to avoid those shimano ones that look like corrective shoes (and the five ten ravens, they look awful too).
Anyone tried the new 661 filters?

No, but I have a pair of old ones that I love, they are now getting to the stage where they are getting tatty after 2 years or so of use. I find them very comfortable, although I mainly wear the special needs shoes the filters have seen a reasonable amount of abuse & been through the washing machine a couple of times, good value for £50 IMO0 -
Try Aldi they get them in from time to time, cost £20.0
