So, I was all set to buy one of these:

As the spec looks pretty good for the price. But then I stumbled over this:

I can't find frame weight for the Planet-X but I'd imagine they'd be quite similar and to be honest the cheapest way to shave off a couple of kilo is simply stop consuming pie. The Planet X has an Ultegra set and the Ribble has Campags.

Does anyone own either? Is it just down to personal preference at this price point or is there a noticeable difference in build quality?

Probably should have said, daily commute is about 32 miles but am supposed to be gearing up to some longer sportives next year (and hopefully the London 100).

Build quality is probably about the same.

If it was my money I'd have the Ribble.

Very little in it. Ultegra is probably slightly higher spec than the latest Centaur but both will be more than adequate, depends whether you prefer Shimano or Campag. The frames look very similar - I have ridden the Planet X and its a nice smooth ride. I know people who have raced on both of those frames, and who have won races as well, so both are good.

Both frames are getting old now, the ribble pro carbon is really really old.

I'd go for this with 105

I was looking at both of thoose also.

Why is the 105 better than the lighter ultegra bike?
I don't uderstand why an older model of carbon frame is an issue have the improved frme tecnology alot somehow other few yrs etc?

Check out the alu Rose Canyon & Radon bikes also. Seems the germans offer good quality wheelsets as well as groupsets for around the same prices & the bikes are lighter than carbon framed ones.
