Saddle buying advice

Hi folks
Not quite a newb but I am when it comes to saddles for road bikes.
Could anybody offer any advice on purchasing a saddle to replace my torture device on my current bike?
I'm training for a 100miler and I'm confident that my current seat will castrate me or kill me.
All suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.

It's a very personal thing, what works for one person may not for another, it can be a long process finding 'the one'. Selle italia do something called id match, where they take some measurements and recommend your ideal saddle so they may be worth a look, failing that some companies do test before you buy. Best of luck!"It never gets easier, you just go faster"0

I changed my original saddle for the charge spoon. Nice and cheap and did me fine for 18 months.
For my new bike I went to a specialized dealer and got fitted for the Romin.
£85 but The best bike buy I have ever made.
I can also change it for a different one within 30 days no problem.

Another method other than the ID March mentioned is to get your sit bones measured using a Specialized "Ass O Meter" if you have a stockist nearby. This should give you an idea of the width of saddle you require and hence a starting point.
You could also look around for a Fizik dealer as they often have test saddles you can borrow to try out. Not sure if other companies offer test saddles too.0 -

Specialized also do a return policy where if you buy one and don't like it you can change for another model (the Concept stores certainly do this and so do authorise dealers AFAIK).
Does anyone know if tryasaddle is still operating? Jay used to post on here?

Bontrager do a 30 day no quibble money back guarantee and measure you for the seat in many LBS that stock themAll lies and jest..still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest....0
