So the ratchet has gone in my chorus shifter, the right hand one.
I know the spares are available for the 9/10 speed....
My question is, will these work for the 8 speed? Or will I have to find a donor/replacement unit?!
Any help/advice appreciated.
Ta very much.

Have you opened it? The ratchet should me a metal one, quite hard wearing... might be the tooth of the thumb shifter instead?left the forum March 20230

No, not yet, wanted to wait until I had the means to fix it. Plus I need the bike functioning for the commute...
Sounds like I might have to crack into it though.0 -

Bit difficult to know what you need to fix it if you don't know what's wrong with it. I suggest you contact these people

That is very true....call it wishful thinking!
Thanks, that's a very good link, hopefully they can supply the answers I need!
I fear replacement may be my only option.0 -
Hi JimmyBloom
Chances are that the ratchet failure is either the two index springs or the index spring mount ring (or maybe both but not likely).
We have a premium same-day turnaround on ErgoShifters so long as we know it is coming in advance. The labour cost is slightly higher, that's all.
The best thing to do is send us your shifter, we'll give it a look and advise the problem and whether parts are needed that we don't have / can't get (possible in some 8s shifters of the oldest, pre-1999 designs, if the problem extends beyond index springs and the like) and turn around the same day if at all possible.
