Is it for a seatpost ? I'd try borrowing some hair spray - that works well for my seatpost and prevents slippage.

I've just used some for the first time, unfortunately it's that abrasive that it's taken the clear coat and colour off the post, now I'm shafted if I want to use it on another frame.
I won't bother again.
