this is the greatest thing i have ever owned. even the fact that the first song played on the first disc in the 6 disc changer is "relax" by obvious goes to necessary!. all i need is a phone for the armrest and it would be perfect!!

it is the one, yes, well spotted.

i toyed with the v12 thing but decided for the 4.4 v8 as being the better overall package.

both are pretty much just as thirsty as each other, they have the same speed figures but the 4.4 version of the 840 comes with the semi auto box and the "sport individual" spec meaning the smaller (and frankly useless) mirrors and the bigger bumpers and skirts as well as the colour coded piping on the seats.

an 8 series is a car i have wanted since childhood and to be able to own one is a real thrill. it drives k, goes nicely bt lord almighty, it is amazing looking!

  • Is the car so long that it doesn't fit in the carpark space, or is it just parked badly? ;)
It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Whats the torque figure on that then?

it is quoted as 310lbs-ft and 286bhp. it is pretty nippy and suprisingly stable but it nearly 2 tonnes of barge!
  • well done mate, good choice on the 4.4 v8 version.

biggest problem i had with my bm (e36 M3) was the fuel guage went down quicker than the revs went up, it spent most of autumn, winter and spring sideways and i couldnt fit a bike in it!.

shame really, great car. hopefully its gonna be problem free, parts for 8 series were scarce when they were in production!

A mate of mine had one of those, the V12 I think. Basically awesome, with a dash of ****ing brilliant, til it ran out of petrol which it did pretty much as soon as you took the filler hose out. Still, want.
