Where is everyone?

Went out this morning to get some more miles under my wheels in preparation for my first century ride on Friday 18th( all in the name of charity, www.justgiving.com/gpfanuk). I went from home which is just outside Stockport to Stoke-on-Trent via Macclesfield and back via Leek. I encountered a total of six other riders during the four and a bit hours I was out! Where is everyone? Was it because it was raining and windy? Do carbon bikes melt in the rain? My triban seemed fine!

  • It's Hill Climb season, probably competing or cheering others on.
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles
  • Ha, I was out for four hours in the pouring rain of Surrey/south east London and saw two fellow "bad-ass weather hard men".

I can confirm my carbon frame didn't melt...

Me too - only saw two people this morning out riding as opposed to going somewhere in 2 hours. Next time it's like that it's indoors on the turbo for me

There were hundreds* of us doing the Southern Sportive around the Cotswolds.

4 hours of constant rain! Worth it though

    * Some, quite a few, but no idea how many!

I was thinking the same yesterday morning, the roads are usually packed with fluorescent yellow jackets but there were none to be seen, I'd had enough after 2hrs of wind and rain but I only came across two other riders in that time.
It was probably the worst ride all year and that incudes all of that snow earlier in the year, I went out today for another short blast and the roads were empty yet again but the weather was slightly better.

Royles (Jaguar) Wilmslow where doing a "ride like a pro" with the sky team car today. I and I think 162 others went from there on a round 42 mike route through Cheshire.

I guess if you weren't on that route, a lot people from round there would have been in it!

^ sounds like you deserved a day off, although I was out Monday & Saturday too, but wimped out and did 30
miles each day at night on my spinning bike the rest of the week.
