Shimano MW 81 Boots letting in water

Hi, I've been out today for a blast around cannock and although it's chucked it down my MW 81 boots have let in quite a bit of water. They are about 18 months old and in pretty good condition and I also wore a pair of sealskinz socks and after a 3 hour ride I literally emptied the water out of them when I'd finnished. They normally keep my feet dry but they have failed miserably today. I'm not sure if it's because the sealskinz have let the water in or I need to re waterproof them or something. Admittedly it was properly wet out there today and I have been through countless puddles but like I say they are usually brilliant. Does anyone else use them or have any trouble with them or the MW 80 which are the same ?
Any opinions would be welcome ( as long as it's not taking the p )

Thanks

  • Shimano shoes have a 2 year warranty, failing that Gore-tex have a lifetime warranty on kit with their branding. I would have thought socks & a boots, both with membranes, would put your feet in a pool of water riding anyway!

Did you have trousers on over the top of the shoes? If not, and it's raining then water will p1ss in through the top as it runs down your legs

No way of avoiding it i'm afraid, one of the reasons I don't bother with winter boots any more...

  • Wore hole in ankle in less than 200 miles. Poor design! Sharp edge and velcro on strap cut hole in soft top ankle srap of both shoes. Would never recommend this shoe to anyone.
