Brazing add-ons - Any recommendations in Bristol area please

I am thinking of adding disc brakes to my old Cr Mo Kaffenback frame.

Whilst Argos in Bristol can braze on disc mounts, I wondered if there was anyone else who could be recommended.

( I am not sure if they have to be brazed - can MiG / TiG be used on a heavy gauge Cr Mo ? )

  • If a frame/fork is not designed to take disc brakes, I am not sure a responsible builder will modify it...
besides, a new Kaffenbeck frame is probably in the region of 250 pounds.

However, Given the recent warehouse performance at Planet X, you might order one and get something else instead... you might win, you might lose...

Used Kaff frames can be bought for £100 - about the cost of a braze-on tab and touch-up paint. I've seen snapped stays on modded frames not designed for disc brakes - but the Kaff's tough as old boots.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I would bet good money on the new ones being the old ones with tabs on.
Did you get yours done? I am thinking about the same job.
