cable inners - does it make a difference?

Time all my cables were replaced (and going to buy some spares).

Found some on PBK for £1 each (Steel shimano inners) and then others for £5.80 (PTFE coated Shimano inners).

Can't I just buy some PTFE spray and the £1 ones?

Any other recommendations, or am I over thinking this?

I only use uncoated inners now. Teflon coated was the fad for mtb gear inners some time ago. I found this flaked off and interfered with shifting.

    just get stainless steel cables

as above, the ptfe coating eventually strips and fouls the cable

Teflon on cables is a pain in the arris. Comes off in the housings and jams 'em up, and can make the cable slip through the clamp so you have to either sand some off or whale on the clamp screw (which I don't like).
