Building MTB for daughter... Advice required

Hi guys,
Bought a kinesis frame and Reba fork from a friend whose daughter has out grown the frame
So I now need shifters, cassette, chain, brakes, rear wheel to complete the build.
Was thinking about buying an entire new groupset possibly SLX or XT but Deore may do just as well only considering that as Merlin have 40% off groupsets right now making it a realistic proposition
brakes wise I'm sticking with Hydraulic brakes. She is light as a feather so no massive stopping power required. What do you recommend brakes wise again looking at SLX / Deore / XT
I have no experience of other makes such as hope and Magura etc hence my Shimano fixation
Need a rear wheel, the front is a mavic 317. Should i stick with the same wheel for the rear
This is her first proper mtb she's moving from a rigid isla bike she's outgrown.
Will be riding trail centres and the odd race
Thoughts please
Cheers,
B

Enough bikes to open a bike shop but always room for one more...

That deore groupset is a bargain, clutch rear mech as well. Almost makes anything higher redundant.
By the way, I have deore and slx brakes on both my bikes, both as good as each other. I.e. superb0
