Anyone familiar with this chain?

I'm looking to buy a bike but can't really stretch to the top dollar prices yet. Does anyone know when this lot has a sale on? Or when is a good time to get a Specialized Secteur 2013 in the sale? I can't imagine anywhere reducing bikes that aren't long released...

STR, as you can see from the Edinburgh Co-op website, the 2014 models are now available, so picking up a discounted 2013 model should be quite easy from now onwards - after all they are now 'last years models'.

Evans seem to have various 2013 Secteur models with discounts.

2013 bikes are now last year's model as 2014 bikes have been coming in for a month or 2, so you might well find a deal.

I can't remember what pattern they follow but I'd expect EBC to have an end of season sale around now and I think they may have a January one. You should sign up for their newsletter.
  • They are a top shop with really good service.

Give them a try would be my advice.

Decent enough shop, but bear in mind that a bike in the sale may well be the last one of that model and size in the shop and there may be a reason for that (it might also be a display model). I bought a mountain bike in their sale a few years ago and when it was delivered the headset bearing was broken as was the fork lockout, EBC did send out replacements though (as well as replacing the carbon fibre seat post that snapped within a few weeks).

Decent stock lines. Staff product knowledge can be sketchy at best. They will price match.

Bought some parts off them and service was really good. They seem to stocksome unusual bits and pieces that other shops don't.
  • Thanks for the replies- I'm sorry, I meant 2014 bikes! The ones that came out last month. I know it's early days but does anyone know when there might be an offer or reduction on these? For all the good deals I've got down the years, I've never got any deals on a bike

Don't expect discounts on 2014 models any time soon. Will probably be well into the new year before retailers can gauge which models are selling well and which might need discounting to help move them along.

If you're looking to buy now then i would advise searching out the discount deals on outgoing 2013 models.

Their own brand bikes and accessories are excellent and the staff are good too. I have one of their tourers and it was a great package at a good price, put 10k miles on it. Their own brand panniers are the best design and value on the market in my opinion, still using mine regularly after 10 years and bought another for a mate's Christmas pressie last year.

ECB has a 15% off sale in Jan I think it was. It includes all bikes even ones they need to order in. A friend got a Specialized Stumperjumper FSR Evo that was in short supply at the time and no one else would discount.
