Some questions about pedals - Look v Shimano

Just wondering if Shimano road SPDs and Look use the same cleats? It would be handy if they did.

And is there any reason to switch from Look to another system? I used to use Look back in the day, and am now getting back into road for the first time in years (10+). Won't be racing, just riding :)

I find SPD-SLs cleats much better when walking with the bike, although of course most of the time this is a minor consideration. Otherwise I haven't noticed a difference since changing from Look.

I went the other way but haven't noticed a difference.
  • I moved from Shimano to Look system and its much better. Clips are better to get into and the pedals are smoother overall. I find Shimano pedals to be too stiff and therefore dont fall back in position quick enough + probably add a fraction more effort via friction.

Went from Look to Shimano but I am considering going back as my knees seem to prefer the extra float with Look cleats.

This. Endless amount of adjustment to be had. Bit of a faff to set up though.

In response to the OP though...Look. A classic.
