Jesus was born in a stable. Does that mean he can run in the Derby?

    No.
But he would probably want to run out of Derby.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

Interesting, what is English anyway? I am Irish, living in the UK for 18 years (16 in England), I grew up in Ireland, but on the east coast so we got BBC TV, listened to BBC radio and followed british bands etc. When I think of Englishness there are many contradictions - home counties tory supporting daily telegraph man v guardian reading, labour northern counties (or even London) man (both cliches), both are English but probably see little to agree on, so culturely different, genetically they may be similar but so will the rest of Europe. Is supporting the Royals a requirement? what about those who want to abolish it or the history in England of peasant revolts? Anyway it is a complex issues, certainly in Ireland we used to laugh at the 'plastic paddies' in the US with their exageratted Irishness.

With an increasingly global culture, economy, mobile work force etc issues of nationality will only get harder to define.
