  • Morning Losers!

Up early as usual for my normal Sunday activities, which is followed by a rehearsal for some show that I've been talked in to. Sometimes I wish I wasn't a good musician, as then I'd have my Sundays and Fridays to myself!

    Ah well, life goes on.

    Laters!

Quiet day in the Crud today.

I'm actually looking forward to work as wife and ankle biter are being such hysterical pains in the arse today and I can't even escape to the pub tonight. Grumble grumble.

Properly big crash today at the CyB enduro, could have ended very very badly. Clipped a tree on a narrow bit of singletrack, possibly going a bit too fast.

The bike fell 130ft down a v.v.v.steep welsh hillside, I fell 30ft before a tree stopped me. Thankfully my camelback took the brunt of it, burst the bladder and bent my pumps but I came away mostly unscathed (aside a lot of cuts and bruises and a swollen shoulder). My head hurts now too :(

Don't know exactly how much damage the bike has sustained, it's missing a saddle for a start but on the pootle back to the centre it was making funny creaking noises and the forks felt odd.
  • Ouch. Sounds expensive! I'd give your bike a damn good look over to see if anything's amiss.

Please tell me you/a friend filmed it!

Awww man, no videos and the only photos I've got are a picture of my bike piled up at the bottom, I'll wait for the edits to start arriving on youtube and find a link to the appropriate section so you can get an idea for how ridiulous a place a it was to be so clumsy crash

As the for the bike, yeah, thankfully I can make do without at the moment so it's going to stay up at home when I head back to uni tomorrow, next time I'm back it'll get a good clean and thorough check over/service to see what's occurring, just can't bring myself to do it yet. Want to save some money up first, think it could be pricey but if it's just sitting there a while I can't see things getting any worse. Main priority right now is a new helmet, pump and camelback bladder as I expect they'll be relatively cheap…

    EDIT

Here's the section in question, the video goes some way to giving an idea as to how steep the hillside was but as with all videos doesn't do full justice, I think the bloke's language says a lot more  p.s. I was actually going a fair bit faster down here than this guy too, you know, just saying

That does have a bit of the 'Oh shyte' factor :) At least you're in one piece and not in A&E - think you were lucky a tree got in your way, another hundred feet of bouncing and you might not be posting this...

  • I'm surprised it took you 30ft to find a tree tbh...

Yep, seems strange, but it was literally 30ft before I stopped
