Replacement wheels for Cube Attention 2010

Hiya

I have a Cube Attention 2010 which has been slowly upgraded as parts have worn out. Now got Recon Silver Air forks and Deore brakes and XT derailleur. Now the original wheels (Alexrims ZX24 on Shimano M475 hubs) are reaching the end of their life so am looking for advice on replacements. How much is it worth spending on a wheel set for this bike and does anyone have any suitable recommendations?

Don't really have a budget in mind. Was more trying to find out what it's worth spending on what was a £600 bike 3+ years ago and when does it become more sensible to buy a new bike instead. LBS did suggest a set of Hope wheels for £400 which seems excessive to me.

To some extent it will depend on your type of riding. If you do XC / trail stuff, I'd suggest these:

I've had pair for a few years. They do everything I need, look nice too with flat, straight pull spokes . I certainly don't think you need to spend £400. That's poor (greedy) advice from your LBS.

Merlin cycles also have a good reputation for custom handbuilt wheels at reasonable prices. Various, Mavic / Shimano combos for as little as £50 (front) and £60 (rear). Obviously being custom wheels you can work your way through better hubs/rims depending on what you want to spend. Link below:
