i ordered an slx (fd-m660) as a replacement to my broken acera (fd-m390).
what i received is a 10-spd front derailleur instead of the 9 speed i ordered.
before i contact the seller (ebay) and ask for a refund i would like to know if a 10-spd front mech can work with an otherwise 9spd transmission?

Thanks!

The front derailleur usually covers the front 3 chainrings (assuming you are running a 3x(8-10). Assuming you still have 3, it would only be the rear derailleur that would cause any issues.

The inner cage width on a 10 speed is a fraction narrower than on a 9 so it may be just slightly more critical on asetting up, or may not.....
