Potentially daft shifter cable question.

Installing a shifter for the rear derailleur for a new bike, first time I've done it and wasn't sure about one minor thing - where the end of the cable meets the shifter on the handlebar, is there a way to lock the plastic housing end cap to the shifter?

It's an xt shifter, but the tech document with it didn't cover that part. Everything else is fine with it, just that the end cap won't lock into the black tension screw thing on the shifter body. As it's new I don't want to try and force it, but couldn't find anything after a quick search online. Thanks for any help :)

it just sits there if i understand correctly.

the tension of the system holds it there the same as every end on all the outers in the run.

  • Cool, thanks for that :)

I didn't want to fully tension the cable thinking there might be something I was missing, cheers!
