Full mudguard recommendations for carrera gryphon disc

I'm looking for a set of full mudguards for my carrera gryphon disc. As it has discs, the mudguard mounts are a little fiddly as the disc mounts can get in the way. I'm concerned about clearance with different guards as I have 28mm swalbe marathon tyres on it and a caradice bagman rack on the back.
There is some clearance between tyre and frame but not a huge amount. I got it around oct10 from Halfords but cannot find the specs which tell me what tyre it can go up to (therefore hopefully telling me how much space I have to play with using my current 28mm tyres).
I've been looking at the SKS commuter guards, which come in 2 sizes, 18-28 and 28-40. Would the smaller size be too tight for the tyres? Are these good mudguards, or are there others I should look at?

I've got the SKS commuter guards on my bike. I got the smaller 18-28 size as I have (factory fitted) 23mm tyres, but figured I might get some 28s for the winter. The rear fits a dream, and would have no problems with accommodating a 28. The front fits clear of the 23 tyre, but there is very little clearance and I think if I put 28s on then it would rub.
Quality wise - they do the job and I've had no problems so far, but do think I should have bought the 28-40 size.0 -
I have the V-brake version of your bike with the 35C version of the SKS Blumels guards, running 25mm tyres. It's fine with the front wheel, but near the bottom bracket it's very tight against the derailer. I had to cut a bit out of the guard to make it fit.
On a related note, they also fall to bits around the stays within a matter of months and SKS refuse to replace them without proof of fitting by a bike shop. Don't buy them. On my third set in less than a year and after two months it's more tape than mudguard.0 -
using sks gaurds at the mo with 28c tyres
luckily my lynskey has a lot of clearance paticually on the fork
to get around the front disc mount i used a longer bolt with a metal sleeve over the top plus a small amount of bending
