Castelli Nanoflex....washing

I bought some arm warmers and a ss gabba jersey. They preform very well but am wondering what is the best way to wash them so that the coating will last. How quickly do they loose their water resistance? I see some people recommending nikwax tech wash and us a reproofing spray afterwards. This seems quite expensive option.

I just washed mine as per the instructions, non-bio at 30 deg, drip dry. Haven't had a problem but haven't had them that long (and don't need them at the mo' )0

I'm a bit confused over nano flex myself, I bought into it as I thought the silicone fibres were actually in the fabric rather than it just being a coating. DWR (the normal coating used to bead on waterproof/resistant fabric) is a pain as even careful washing (liquid soap not detergent) eventually leads to it wearing off and then you need to nikwax (or similar) to restore a beading coating (doesn't last more than a couple of washes though IME).
In reality my nano flex arm warmer and bib 3/4s only bead for a short time then wet-out and what I've read since seems to indicate nano flex is just a surface coating so probably suffers the same way DWR does0 -
Couldn't have timed this better as I have just received the same and was also wondering what's the best way to look after it...
I was under the impression that you didn't need to add any waterproof products to it after washing so time will tell I guess.0 -
My nanoflex bibs stopped beading after less than a month, I was mine at 40degrees in the machine.
Haven't bothered to try nikowax, I do have some, but just haven't bothered because when the nanoflex is wet, it still keeps you warm, so I don't really care that much.... Even when new, its only able to resist very light rain, in heavy rain, it still soaks up the water, dries out fairly quick when it does stop raining.0 -
yeah the coating lasts a few weeks or so and then I think you'd have to nikwax it. But as Matty says - I've not bothered either.
Apparently Sportful are a sister company to Castelli and their versions are cheaper. I'd look into them next time.0
