Bike bag for 29er FS suggestions - EVOC vs others

I'm after a few ideas.
I'm going to be taking my large 29er full suspension bike to the US. The bike weighs 13.5Kg. The flight will include a domestic flight and plane change at a European airport before the long haul to the US. I'm looking for a decent bike bag that will protect my bike but doesn't cost the silly money of some of the higher end bags / boxes and doesn't weigh too much as my bike is already quite heavy and would like to try keep the total weight below 23Kg. I plan to make other plane trips with the bike hence looking for a bespoke bag instead of using a bike box from the LBS. I also think a cardboard box is a little risky now in the wet season too.
Will a 29er FS comfortably fit into an EVOCor will it be a tight squeeze?
How large in real use is the EVOC? Would it fit into something like a Fiat Punto with the seats down or across the back seat?
What's the durability of the EVOC like? Will it stand up to multiple use? I plan on taking my bike to other destinations.
Do some airlines insist on a hard shell case for a bike? I read somewhere that soft bags may be a problem.
Others I've considered are two B&W ones:this one and this one but can't find any reviews on them or much detailed information. Has anyone tried one? The hard shell one looks too heavy.
Any other recommendations or suggestions.
