Im away to change my 7 speed cassette for an 8 speed but im unsure what the gear ratios mean so far i have seen 11-32 ,12-26, 12-23 and 11-28 is there a certain one i need for the chain i have or is it my style of riding that determines what i need? And will i need to replace my front gears at all?

The first number refers to the smallest sprocket - 11 or 12 is usual. You can't get any smaller than 11. the second number is the biggest sprocket - eg 28,32. The numbers refer to the number of teeth on a sprocket. The bigger the sprocket the easier the gear is to ride 34 is likely be the max number of teeth for your bike's rear mech if it is a mega range one and you have a triple crankset - if not then you might have to settle for 32.
The chain doesn't matter as long as it is a 7/8spd one.
You'd only need to replace the front gears of the teeth are worn the chainrings
  • Perfect cheers, thats helped loads didnt want to wreck the gears putting the wrong one on lol
