Crank swap advice

Hi can anyone advise me on the potential comparability and implications of swapping out my shimano cx chainset for a xt mtb set as I want 180mm cranks - will they fit, any front mech implications or otherwise. I don't want to fork out for dura ace the mtb sets look cheaper option. Thanks in advance
