New chain and cassette

Ok

Checked chain this morn with chain wear tool... 1% wear...

Do I change the chain and cassette or as its my winter bike just run both until they are really done

Prob done about 2.k miles on both

    Since you've got to 1% wear it's best just to keep going till it starts to skip. Then replace both, and hope the chainrings haven't suffered too much.

    I replace my chains at 0.75% wear and have got 6000 miles out of the cassette so far. Maybe it would've been cheaper doing it your way...
  • keef, how many chains so far (in your 6000)? Is this all year round riding? Just rtying to work out how my chain usage compares...

    I think if you exclude a brief trial of a suspiciously cheap Mavic 10 speed chain which sounded like a bag of spanners, I think 4 Shimano chains so 1500 miles a pop. Year round riding, some quite shitty roads in the winter, but with proper mudguards.
