Now the temperature is getting cooler on mornings, looking for a Gilet to protect my body from the chill, to wear above a jersey - Can anyone recommend one?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Any gilet will do. This one is not a complicated bit of kit really. Fit is more important, and that would depend on your proportions. You want it a form fitting as possible to avoid flapping in the wind.0

Sportful Hotpack if there's a chill and Endura windchill for cold cold.0

I use an Altura Ergofit gilet and the quality of the fabric and fit are both excellent.0

Stuff a folded up Sunday Times inside your jersey. Will do the same thing for a fraction of the cost0

I started using a Louis Garneau Speedzone gilet this year. There's no lower back to it so you have access to jersey pockets. It's a great bit of kit.

Cheapo Craft gilet does the job for me - http://www.prendas.co.uk/details.asp?ty ... =3&ID=3078

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.0 -
I wish I had gone for one with it's own pockets or slit to get at ones in jersey but the Altura one is good otherwise.0

I've got a cheap, thin altura one. Fits nicely and just takes the edge off the wind chill a bit - which is all you need until you start getting into proper winter wear. It also folds up small enough to be jammed in a back pocket or seat-pack if it warms up a bit.Music, beer, sport, repeat...0

Pro Bike Kit have some nice Sportful ones for £20 with loads of reflective strips on the back and front if you want something commuter friendly. Its a bit 'plasticy' but I don't find it uncomfortable or too sweaty.
Funny everyone should mention most gilets not having pockets, the only one I could find with pockets when I was looking a couple of years ago was an Adidas Team Sky one (I assume the pro team gilets have jersey pockets for carrying bottles) and its a really useful piece of kit, put phone, keys etc in your jersey pocket, then put gilet over top with your gels in for easy access. Keeps your phone dry if it rains and also means you don't need to fumble around to get gels out.0 -
The Assos Falkenzahn is very nice indeed but it is stupidly expensive, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you have money to burn.0

The GroundEffect Jetson is windproof and stretchy so it fits well and has rear pockets

the Castelli Fawsome also fits well but does not have pockets and has a mesh back so not as warm

Both are a little too bulky to stow in a back pocket of a Jersey.0 -

I don't understand why pockets are so rare on gilets! The dhb one isn't packable though so it's more of a commuting gilet.0 -
The Fawesome is just what it says F awesome... Its the only gilet I have which doesnt make me sweat inside. The back breathes REALLY well but it keeps me warm when needed. Somehow it seems to know what temperature to keep me! (occasionally assisted by varying degrees of unzipping). Dont know how water resistant yet.
Only issue is that mine is black but it was half price and they didnt have the yellow. This time of year, I am wanting to be more high viz during commutes. But then again, the yellow is black on the back anyway...
I have a couple of other gilets with a mesh rear and they are pretty good too - Funkier is really breathable on the back but would not stop any rain and Connondale Morphis is pretty good and turns into a Jacket too (but you cant buy it anymore).
Interesting idea from LG about the pockets - I can see the sense in that and would like to try it but cant justify another and again its all black...0 -
The hi-viz Fawesome might as well be black with how easy it gets dirty from wet road grime!0

My Mavic Espoir Gilet does a very good job and has a large zipped back pocket.0
