Had a go at 200m sprint today at the cycle show, posted a time of 10.5 s, was good enough to take second place on the day.

Winner posted a 9.8s, is that ultra fast?

  • Sounds like it was fast enough. That's what matters.

As it was pretty close to 10s - average watts would give a better benchmark. It might tell you that in a race if you make it to the end in the top 10, fresh legs, hold a good line, keep away from the nutters, timed your jump to perfection - you'd stand a pretty good chance of a top 5 placing.

The world record for the flying 200m is a whisker over 9.5 seconds. The world record for a woman is just over 10.6.

However I would suggest that the result on a wattbike is not equivalent to the 'real world'...

The Wattbike world record is 9.3 secs by Sir Hoy but it was reckoned he was only giving it 80%.

Yeah it seems that its not even close to 'real life', 9.3 is good! Jason Kenny only managed 10.17! I'm happy with 10.50 in jeans
