Having my bike re built on an esprit frame, the headset is non integrated, apart from the Columbus minimal does anyone have any suggestions? I find some of this tech talk very confusing!

Enigma do their own. I have a polished Ti one, looks lovely. Though I have had issues with the two sets of bearing cartridges supplied by Enigma.

MattC59 has an Esprit, he should be able to advise. I'm sure it's a Chris King on his....

i think my question has been misunderstood, i have the chris king headset...i would love the polished ti one though lol but i want fork options. the main choice seems to be the columbus minimal fork but everyone with an esprit seems to have that.

I've got an Enigma stainless steel with a Chris King headset, I went for the Enve 2.0 forks and they are great, they are a little pricey but if you can afford them I would highly recommend.

  • I have Ritchey on my Esprit. Forks, bars, stem and seat post. A little too much graphics in my opinion but the seat post ones came off with some wet and dry.

Basically any std 1 1/8th fork should fit. Height and rake will affect handling a bit. The bottom cup on a non-integrated headset is about the same external diameter as an integrated headset tube (so it looks fine).

i assume more rack is better handling? (i probably have this wrong way round i usually do lol)

More rake = less trail = faster handling:

As said, any 1.125" fork will be fine as the diameter of the fork crown is the same diameter as the lower race.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

thank you monty, i thought there was a fitting issue too but i think the chap doing the build possibly thinks it will look naff with the enigma electron forks that i currently have rather then not actually fitting. most seem to go with the columbus minimal i guess they go more with the classic styling, not sure how classic i want to go.
