Shimano 6700 Front Mech Question

Have a Shimano Ultegra 6700 front mech which was used with a 53/39 chainset, now swapped to a compact chainset, will the mech work or is there a specific 6700 front mech for use with compacts?

    Will work fine - they only do one front mech for all double chainsets - you just move it down a little to keep the same level of chain clearance for the lower circumference of the 50T chainring.

    Yup. Needs to be moved down the seatpost by about 5mm and refastened so that the outside of the cage is in line with the big ring (carefully, the rear of the cage tends to move in as you tighten). Then tighted it up and check that when you move the cage it clears the big ring by a couple of mm.

    Shimano's tech docs are good for this and available online so that's worth a look too.
