Ritchey Breakaway steel road

Got a soft spot for bikes that fold and go small and do funny things. The Ritchey Breakaway is their take on a S and S coupled bike, using the seat post and a hinge clamp to hold it together. The idea is you can dismantle it easy, pack it into a bag and take it on a plane easily in a "normal" sized suitcase.
I need a black and white saddle, but am very pleased with how it looks - Built up with various parts I had around...
Weight is 8.5kg. Not bad...
Frame - Ritchey Breakaway
Fork - 3T Funda
Stem - 3T Arx
Bars - Ritchey WCS
Headset - Ritchey WCS
Seatpost - Ritchey WCS
Shifters - Sram Force
Front Mech - Sram Force
Rear Mech - Sram Rival
Chainset - Sram Apex
Brakes - Sram Apex
Wheels - Mavic Aksiums (shhhh! Don't tell Ugo!!!!)
Tyres - Conti GP4000s
Chain - Sram 1050
Cassette - Sram 12 - 26 Rival level
Pedals - 105 Shimano
Cabling - Jagwire
Saddle - Fizik Arione (manganese to be replaced)

I had a look at torque couplings, but this seems a neater solution if it retains the stiffness.
Of course I am a lot more interested in your penny farthing...left the forum March 20230 -
Ha! Yet to summon the courage up for building that. It is from www.rexbike.com (although I bought it from someone who bought it from there). Even came with a Brooks saddle!
This is a neat system - the seatpost holds the seat tube together and there is a clamp that holds the down tube together. I'll try and take some photos. Rode it in today and felt nice, responsive - like a nice steel frame. External headset Paolo - you'd approve.
The cable splitters are pretty smart as well.
I need to bung a different set of wheels on and it'll be ready for travels.http://www.georgesfoundation.org

Oooh, I like that! Could do with either a white or a black saddle though...0

I agree. Looking currently for cheap saddle. Thinking black and changing hoods for black as well.
Think the 120 stem is a bit too long as well, so probably will look at shortening that. Curse my inability to use a tape measure!http://www.georgesfoundation.org

I am not sure... this might look like a pink tie on a pink shirt, which is OK if you have a work meeting in Barnsley, but not OK if you are seeking a good match... I would go for complementary colours instead and I am pretty sure a Brooks Swallow or Swift in brown will look pretty good...
Besides, there are way too many bikes in black/white colours...
Now of course someone will travel all the way to this thread to point out that brown is not a complementary colour to black or white, but hey oh, this is my take on the subject.
I have a brown swift you can try on if you fancy (when you come over to show me the high wheel that is...left the forum March 20230 -
Oh no, a brown saddle won't look right at all. I'd add one of these, although I'm not sure which one...

Too obvious, too boring, too safe, too much Ford Mondeo... reminds me of those cars with grey upholstery to "match" silver paint... when it's obvious that RED upholstery would look so much more amazing! Or the opposite... look

Ugo, do you ride a bike like this?

No, but these are not complementary colours... they are not meant to go together... the bike was probably spotted in Basingstoke...
Complementary are yellow and purple for instance.. look at the LA Lakers kit... it's bonkers but it's awesome, whilst look at Chelsea FC kit... it's boring like only boredom can be...
Or cream and red are born to go together, look:

That frame doesn't need "interesting" coloured components though, does it? You see so many bikes on here ruined with people over doing it with matching or contrasting tyres, saddles, bar tape or other some other component. They just don't need it. This is a great bike, black saddle (Brooks or Fizik, doesn't matter) would finish it off a treat.0

Oooo. I have a Brooks saddle! Yes, in the loft. But it is black... Brooks Swift though - may well look LOVELY on this. Will try tonight.
I have been really tempted by this recently though: http://www.brooksengland.com/cambium/
Anyone got any good tips on bottle cages? I'm thinking these: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/arundel-stainless-steel-bottle-cage/http://www.georgesfoundation.org

Damn you mroli. I've just looked at that Brooks saddle and it is tickling my fancy. Now I want one to try on my titanium build.
I'm liking those CK cages. They would look sweet on that Ritchey. And I think your black Brooks would fit the bill perfectly.0 -
I like that a lot. I always fancied the cx version.0
