Gear Re-Indexing Question
Can anyone tell me if this is normal, or the reason behind it...
I recently got a spare rear wheel with the same cassette for use on a turbo - the plan being to simply swap wheels depending on if I'm going outside or on the turbo. The LBS that built it assured me I wouldn't need to reindex the gears every time I do the swap. So I swap the wheels first time to try out the turbo and I can't get into the smallest sprocket. So I re-configure using the 2 limiting screws and then re-index the gears to be sure everything is correct.
Today I fancied a ride outside after recovering from a week long cold. I swap the wheels fully expecting to have to re-configure everything again but hey presto everything was set up perfect.
So how does that work? And will I have to re-configure when I go back to the turbo?

Sounds totally normal. Hubs are rarely the same."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
