What trail hard tail

As some may have seen in my other thread, I'm wanting to upgrade my bike with a longer travel hardtail. Now, I'm going to try and test most of them if I can. All I will be doing is trail centres, red and black routes. I am after a bike what's capable of handling jumps, drops offs, roots and rocks etc. I have 3 bikes on my list to try what I can think off, they are the on one 456, ragley piglet/Marley and the orange crush? I'm sure there's a load more but I'm having a brain fart thinking. Any other options would be most greatfull and advice, regards scott

Cotic - Soul or Bfe, though personally I'd go for a 650b, I think On-One may be working on a new bike!Planet X Kaffenback 2
Giant Trance X2
Genesis High Latitude 2x10

Hi Kiliscott
I'm having similar questions.
So far my list is Stanton Slackline, On One 456 evo, Ragley Piglet, Cotic Soul, Commençal Ramones and Dialled Alpine. I'm only considering steel frames, but there's a lot more out there and even Mondraker has a new 650b long travel trail hardtail for 2014 (http://www.mondraker.com/14/eng/bikes/vantage-rr/371).
I will be looking at this post trying to find some answers for myself…0 -
Stanton slackline
Production privee shan
Cotic BFE
Santa Cruz Chameleon
Dialled Alpine
Ragley Piglet/Bluepig
On one 456 EVO
Commencal Ramones
Charge Duster
Dartmoor Hornet
Theres a load of some aggresive hardtails I can think of. They vary in price.0 -
DMR 898 or Omen.
My trailstar frame from 1999 is still very much alive, I used it for jumping, DH, and for a few BSX (4X) races. It's a lot of fun to ride but is heavy and not so good for day long rides or big climbs.Bird Aeris. DMR Trailstar. Spesh Rockhopper pub bike.0 -

Has anyone bought a Ragley Piglet 2 recently and have they sorted their quality problems? I see CRC are offering these now for £280 now. Very tempting if quality OK.Cotic Soul 26 inch. Whyte T1300

I was admiring these at the Forest of Dean a couple of weeks ago. They do look the business. The Production privee shan would also be near to the top of my list.Yeti SB95
Nukeproof Mega AM 275
On One 456C

Charge Duster is a great bike but not for what you want. I think it's been discontinued as well.
I would go for the Dartmoor Hornet or Cotic BFe.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
I think the Hornet is too harsh a ride to make a good trail bike. We have one in our test collection - its nice, and great value, but its more a mess about jumper than a trail ride.A Flock of Birds

I'd look at Whyte - 120mm rather than 140/150mm but descents brillianty and at 25lbs it can climb too - also a bargain - http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... _2012_Bike
If you are a large this is in steel: http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... _2012_Bike
Cotic Soul also looks good.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0 -
Whyte 905 looks good, mbr are doing a trail hardtail group test next month- worth having a look at that before you buy0
