I got an email today from TFL:

I am writing to drivers and cyclists in London to let them know about a number of safety tips that can help prevent some of the most common causes of accidents involving cyclists in London.

The tips relate to road position, traffic lights, junctions, car doors and lorries.

For example, drivers are asked to keep a safe distance from cyclists, and not to try to overtake when there is not enough space to do so. Cyclists are trained to ride away from the gutter and in the middle of the lane where it is too narrow for cars to pass safely.

Yours sincerely,

There where a couple of image attached, see it yourself. on the tfl's website.
This is a very good start.
