Hey,

I just changed my scott aspect 45 08 cassette and creased the heads of the cassette and decided i should get new parts: Crank & Pedals Or just rings if possible as there worn at mo, and front and rear Derailleurs as there slightly rusty at the mo.

Currently mostly standard since bought

Frame: Aspect hydroformed 6061 alloy frame with integrated headtube
Forks: Suntour XCR 100mm with lockout
Gears: Shimano Alivio rear and Acera front derailleurs
Shifters: Shimano SL-MC 40 rapid-fire
Crankset: Shimano M341 44×32×22
Brakes: Shimano M485 hydraulic disc
Wheels: Rigida ZAC 19 SL rims built on Shimano RM65 rear and Formula CO-51 front hubs
Handlebars: Scott comp 20mm rise
Stem: Scott comp
Saddle: Scott aspect
Seatpost: Scott Team 26.8mm

Id like to keep the type of crankset design so i can use a chain guard which screws in the middle, handy for riding to work, so if buying just the rings was possible.

Which parts are reasonable priced to replace what i have, id also change the gear shifters too if it was better to stick to a set ( ie all 4 parts, front rear der and shifters ).

Thanks for your time.

Screws in the middle of what? Or did you mean trouser guard that screws to the outer ring?

You don't have a square tapered cassette and it doesn't have crowns or creases.
Just look for roughly what you have (Alivio), but I suggest you read Parktools - link in my sig to see what you mean, or talk to you LBS.
I linked above to the crankset you have.

  • I'd be comfortable spending £300, gear shifters and deralliers front and rear, pedals and chain. I'm happy with the current disk brakes.

If possible a chain guard would be handy for the commute to work.

Get pretty decent stuff with that money, XT even.
Full SLX groupset can be hard for around £350.
  • Is this the best for sqaure taper short of getting a new Octalink Bottom Bracket.
    Shimano FC M570 Chainset 44x32x22T 175mm

Other wise which rings would i buy to replace the current ones ?

  • Well, in the end i bought the parts from a closing cycle repair shop and they installed them.
New front and rear derailleur, Chain, gear cables and crank set. Running it by hand, all the gears run fine and aren't rubbing, but today i took it for the test run and it keeps slipping under pressure ( Up hill, Pedaling fast ).
He also said the bottom bracket is a little wide ( From previous original setup), but it shouldn't be a problem.

What should i do, tighten cable or adjust screws or other ?

    No idea from that.

BB length depends on the crankset used.

    Read Parktools for the rest.
