£1500 to spend

I'm kinda looking for a new bike and have a budget of around £1500, should I buy a entry level full suspension bike or get a good quality hard tail????? The majority of my riding will be the likes of glentress red route/ carron valley and calendar estate. I currently have a boardman comp bike but felt it was a bit out of its depth on the red track at glentress.
If you had £1500 to spend on a new bike, what would you buy and why?

I don't think it will be the bike that is out of it's depth tbh0

For that sort of money I'd be going for a canyon or a 2012 2013 reduced model. you'd get something with good specs if you look in the right places and a great price.

If you shop around you can get a pretty good 2013 full sus bike for £1300.
Your boardman is capable of being ridden reasonably quickly down any trail if you have the talent. A full sus bike will just make it a bit easier.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Your Boardman should be more than enough bike for where your riding, why not upgrade some of the parts...Giant Reign 2

Well yes, the Boardman is a good bike. But if he's got £1,500 and rides Glentress etc a lot then surely a full suss is a good idea?
Look at Pauls cycles, a 2012/13 Giant Trance would a decent bet.0 -
I have a hardtail and a full suss and ye you can do most things on a hardtail but you ll do it quicker and in more comfort on a full suss . Giant s new 650 trance 3 looks good at £1500 with 140mm travel. The family that rides together stays together !

So basically I should keep my £1500 in my pocket and learn how to ride my boardman properly and not like a big girls blouse??? Lol
To be fair I probably don't have the talent to get the best out of the bike, I just felt a bit battered and sore after doing glentress. And I thought maybe a full suspension would be better.0 -

Not neccesarily better, different. Some people prefer HT's to FS's.
A full sus is more fun in my opinion.0 -
