What's up with Castelli gloves??

I decided I needed a new pair of cycling mitts and opted for Castelli's S Rosso Corsa (supposedly their best offering with pittards leather palm) Anyway, the gloves arrived and looked and felt great until I went to open the velcro closer only to find the rubber peal away completely from the fabric backing! I then opened the velcro on the other glove and the exact same thing happened- so had to send them back.
Decided not to go with another pair of these and ordered a pair of the Rosso Corsa Classic gloves (very slightly cheaper)- these arrived yesterday and I tried them on to find they were not as good a fit as the S Corsa ones, then found that the stitching on the left hand index finger was falling apart! So back they are going too!!
I love my Castelli gear, but something has gone badly wrong with the gloves!
Can anyone recommend a good alternative?

The Specialized BG mitts are quite good and have lasted me well. Then again, time to start thinking about long finger gloves!0

Where did you get them? Not something I would expect from Castelli, could they be fake at all?
I have the long Spec BG gloves and they are OK, certainly warm enough but not waterproof. In the real rubbish weather I have a pair of extremities shell gloves that i wear over them that keep the hands nice and toasty.Life isnt like a box of chocolates, its like a bag of pic n mix.0 -
I go through gloves quite quickly. I now just buy from planet x and I'm happy with that. They work fine and may not last as long quite as some other brands but it still works out better for me.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

I bought a pair of Castelli gloves, from Wiggle, so shouldn't be fake.
Washed and the rubber started to come off. I also thought its a bit rubbish for expensive Italian stuffTrek 1.5 Road

For mits, I keep coming back to Spesh ones - there are various types, I prefer the ones with slightly heavier padding and a velcro strap for a more secure fit - the non-strapped versions tend to 'creep' up between my fingers during a ride.

I have gone through a lot of mits over the years, now buy the .01p ones off of ebay £5.99 postage, seem to be just as good/bad as anyone else's. Take about 2 weeks for delivery.0

Anything I've had from the BG range has been superb. Their long finger gloves are excellent.http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

Any more recommendations for a good pair of mitts?
I was originally looking for a pair of gloves with pittards leather palm, but have read a few stories of these seeping dye when wet, loosing their suppleness etc. - Anyone else got experience of leather mitts?0 -

Do you put this on them after cleaning them or before you wear them for the first time?0 -
Either way is fine. 2 or 3 times a year should keep them supple and waterproof.
It's designed for things like car seats and Bikers leathers so a jar will last forever with a pair of mitts.
They also sell a cleaning fluid to use before application."You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -
Ive narrowed my choice down to:
Giro Lusso (LX)
Giro Monaco
Specialized 74

I was lucky to pick up a pair of LX for about £35 new. Not got any experience of the Monaco's but I think the LX's look a lot better."You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0 -
Thanks, can you tell me what the sizing's like?0

They were slightly tight at first but after a couple of rides they had stretched a bit which has made them bang on."You really think you can burn off sugar with exercise?" downhill paul0

Bought mine last year, standing up well. Only had to do a little seam repair last week wwhere the thread had come undone slightly on one glove.0
