diagnosis request ...grinding sound from rear hub
cleaned my spesh allez last weekend...sprayed water on the bike ...no pressure washer, used foam spray and wiped down the bike ...sprayed degreaser on the cassette and used wipes to clean between the sprockets and wiped dowm
n the chain with degreaser and relubed both cassette and chain.
I now have a grinding sound from the rear hub....when i turn pedals and freewheel, it grinds away.
when i roll the bike backwards there is no noise.ie the wheel is turning but no noise
it seems to make a noise going forwards whilst pedalling and freewheeling..
have i blown some muck into the bearings ..if thats the case why not make a noise going backwards???
any comment would be appreciated

Probably a knackered freehub. Remove the wheel and spin it in your hands - if the spindle spins freely, then freehub it is.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Personally I wouldn't be spraying degreaser onto the cassette - it's not going to help the freehub if the degreaser gets in to it. If you want a shiny cassette, it's best to take it off and clean it properly.Faster than a tent.......0

took it to LBS and said freehub is on its way out, he could not get proper access to bearings..double sealed OEM alex rims s480. should be able to use them fine for next few weeks but need new rear wheel.
so need new wheels...looking at fulcrum racing 7 and campy Khamsin both about £120.00 any views on these?
looking to but a better bike next year so not really willing to buy expensive wheelsriding a canyon endurace

Khamsins (and F7s - much the same thing) are pretty much bomb proof. I'm about to replace wheel and freehub bearings on mine after probably at least 13000 miles in all weathers. Still straight as a die. Pay £100 for the Khamsins from Ribble cycles. F7s usually a little more irrc.Faster than a tent.......0
