Turbo Trainer Cassette Ratio?

Used my turbo trainer to good effect last year and will be doing so even more this winter.
I'm looking to buy a dedicated wheel and cassette for the turbo before buying a TT bike next year, in terms of ratios what would be best? I currently have Ultregra 12-30 for both wheel sets but with my eye firmly on 10 mile TT's next year I wonder if training on different ratios would be better, something like an 11-23 maybe?

It depends on what you intend on doing on the trainer, but I can conceive plenty of sessions where you will use an 11 tooth, and none when you will use more than 23/25 teeth.Red bikes are the fastest.0

It will depend on the turbo's power profile such as:

And obviously if you are running a standard or compact (or other) chainset,
I have a mid compact (so half way house 36/52) and find with a 52 up front and an 11-23 rear that the jumps are pretty big. If I look a the cogs where the jumps are large, it's in the middle of the cog where the increments are only 1 teeth (so can't get any better).
And I never use larger than 21 on the rear (52/21) and never use the 11 (52/11) since this is 1200 watts.
But as above, it depends on the power profile.Simon0 -
Thanks both. 50/34 is what I have so does that change your answer?Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/
