What's your experience with Knog lights? The new Road Blinder 2 and pre-listed Blinder 3 look rather nice...

Are the stories of straps breaking worth worrying about?

I've hard water ingress and strap breaking problems on all three of the knog lights I've owned... :S

The new generation might be better though. Buy them and let us know!
  • I use two rear Knog Blinder 4 LEDs on my seat post.

USB rechargeable, bright and waterproof. Can't think of any negatives to them!

  • I've had two knog frog lights, both rubber straps snapped so won't be buying from them again

We have a scattering of frogs around the house, good and reliable for us. They can attach to helmets, saddle bags and bits of frame allowing you to light up whatever you want.
    RIP commute...
Sometimes seen bimbling around on a purple Fratello Disc or black and red Aprire Vincenza.

Got a few frogs - AOK as per menthel above
  • Geckos on one of my bikes. Nice and discreet, served well for a few years as be seen lights. Not as good light or battery life as my smart lunar ones though.
  • I have had knog lights before. Never again.
  • So it's unanimous then!
  • knog frogs are terrible - 4 seperate ones went wrong (turn on/off when they felt like it) but the more expensive ones are meant to be fine

I had the medium sized front one for almost two years: worked great until somebody nicked it(with the bike it was mounted on) :x
It's bright , not too expensive and had a usb rechargeable and replaceable battery. I'm thinking of buying some of the small rear ones, they looked good(but not rechargeable).

This.... on/off when they want to and run the batteries down in no time. Not to mention odd looks in the office when your helmet suddenly starts flashing disco lights at people. They do have a 2 year guarantee and Amazon have so far just sent me out a replacement every 6 months or so.

    Likewise on both of mine.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.
  • Pretty much every Knog light I've ever owned has broken. In the past I'd complain and they'd normally send a new one, but last winter I switched to Exposure and will be sticking with them. The Flash/Flare design isn't perfect but they seem hardier than the Knogs and the new version looks a good bet.

yeah I bought mine relatively cheaply in the sale but was getting through stupid amounts of batteries...but the knog blinder looks good, and its rechargeable ;)
  • The rubber straps on both my blinders failed after a few months...

I too had problems with the rubber straps on knogs. I had one and in winter the rubber strap seems to loose its elasticity. I got this replaced. The same thing happened the next winter. Knog is bracketed with Altura in the never buy bracket.

All very interesting! So as a buy cheap buy twice kinda guy...

Is the Exposure Mk4 a no brainer?
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/exposure-spark- ... 3-charger/

Or Nano shot, as I'd much rather have USB charging than a new system to run alongside my Hope kit.

For a similar amount as that Exposure, you can get Moon xp500 front, shield 60 rear, mains charger & helmet mount- see bargains thread.

epic!! completely skimmed over that thinking it would be the same as the others, needing batteries/charger and the annoying twist on/off.

    usb - tick
    on/off button - tick
    fuel gauge - tick

Spasypaddy has the rear of this, he has been raving about it (I have the flash front, bought it cheap - but its batteries and is the the previous version). They are both silly bright (new rear/old front).

Ordered the exposure trace in the end & will probably get the rear later in the year.

Realise it's a bit late but I had a Spark and it went back to Exposure twice with a couple of issues. The second time they said I'd put the batteries in the wrong way round, which I hadn't. I sold it and bought a Joystick, that was heavily discounted, which is much better. The Trace should be good.
I think their lights that are a single unit without removable batteries seem a lot better.
  • Had a lot of problems with the old design front knog boomer - kept switching itself on or off over bumps, the design is such that the battery connection relies on having the rubber sleeve on tightly enough. I threw it out.
I've migrated to Lezynes lights, brighter and no problems thus far
