Hi.

I have AVID hydraulic disks on my bike at the moment which are post mount fitting, and have post mount to IS adapters front and back. I'm looking to swap them for some Shimano brakes, and was wondering whether I will also have to change the adapters to Shimano?

I suspect that I will, but thought i'd ask.

Thanks

If both callipers are the same mount - post (not terribly clear from your post) then the adapters will work, just don't use the Avid adjustment washers.

The mounting on the avid calliper mounts are offset to allow for the alignment washers, so remove calliper and washers and use the shimano calliper on the same mounts, you will usually need shorter mounting bolts though!

  • Sorry for not being clear. My understanding is that both the Avid Juices and Shimano Deore calipers are post mount. My frame and forks are IS mount - hence the adapters.
It sounds like the adapters will be good for both.
    Thanks for the responses
