Fugio or other

I am thinking of replacing my Croix de Fer frameset with the new Genesis Fugio, but as they're only making 100 of them, I doubt I'll be one of the lucky ones.
The Condor terra can be an alternative, although I'd prefer high end steel to alloy

Basically I love the CdF, but I'd like something a bit lighter and with a light carbon fork and fit for discs. I am not interested in carbon frames... anything out there in that 700-800 price bracket for the frame + forks?

What about something from a British framebuilder?

Kinesis Crosslight Pro 6. Nice frameset and can be built up with disc brakes. Well in your budget and on offer at Fatbirds. (not sure if you'd like the colours though)

  • Well I was lucky enough to be one of "the 100" and very happy I am to. Thing is I'm not sure that it matters because it seems (unless I'm reading this wrong http://www.bikeradar.com/road/news/arti ... ils-38414/ ) Genesis are going to continue to make the frame available.

I looked at the Kinesis but decided after having enjoyed riding my steel Singular Peregrine so much (and it like the CDF is a bit porky) that it had to be another steel bike.

    I'd love to...
I did talk to Shand, but you are looking at different money, which I don't have at the moment... anyway, the good news is that after talking to my contact, I can get a Fugio next week apparently.

I did buy the CdF 4 years ago not knowing what to expect, but the concept has been such a revelation that I'd like something similar, just lighter and better and fingers crossed I might well be on the right track

I don't mind the colours at all and if the steel option fails, it might well be a candidate... it ticks all the other boxes... just I am not a big fan of integrated headsets, which come as standard with alloy frames

  • Taylormade run by angus taylor will build you a R853 frame for you. Angus is a very skilled frame builder I have seen his work over many years as I used to ride with him. I will be getting him to build my wife disc brake bike.

I did of course look into bespoke, but the budget is tight and I am asking a lot for that money. The best I have found for light tubes (853 steel or equivalent) was around 1000 pounds with basic CroMoli forks... the Fugio for 750 gives me a full carbon one and a frameset which is 1 Kg lighter than my CdF. Also, I am not one for bespoke frames, I have never owned one and never being in need of something made to size. There is enough adjustment in seatpost/stem etc to give me a good riding position with pretty much any frame size between 52 and 57

Salsa have bought out something called a Warbird I think, which looks pretty similar. I'd probably trust the Genesis to ride properly though.

I will Smidsy, frameset only... it's a 56... I can probably throw in the deal the Campagnolo Record headset currently fitted as it won't work on the Fugio... I'll drop you an email next week... fingers crossed I should take delivery of it on sunday

I did look at the Warbird 2... great forks and good bike, but alloy and ideally I prefer steel. I have now ordered a Fugio via a friend who is a Genesis dealer and he says it should be in this week... it does sound all a bit too easy...

Shhhhh, don't tell everyone that, you'll bring the overpriced and unecessary bikefit industry to its knees if you start suggesting people move their own seatposts up and down without consulting several acronyms and scientific sounding words.
