Ambrosio Nemesis/Nemesis 2000 Dimensions?

So I've taken the plunge and purchased some Nemesis tubular rims for my winter wheel build. But I'm struggling with the spoke lengths. I have measured the ERD as 618mm but there seems to be two different versions of this rim according to my searches on the Internet. The other one has an ERD of 610mm. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the two rims? And where does the extra dimension go?

I'm thinking that the one with an ERD of 610mm may be a slight bit deeper giving a wider brake track? My rims seem to be quite thin at the brake track. So thin that standard swissstop pads are actually as wide as the track. Anyone who has built with both of these rims able to tell me the difference?

  • You are right, there is a lot of confusion about those. They haven't changed in a long time. I have built several and my ERD is 612. If you build them 32 x 3 cross on Shimano or Record hubs, you want 300-301 mm for the front and 300/298 for the rear

  • Thanks for reply Ugo. I have measured my rims ERD as 617 or 618 using 12mm nipples which is giving me spoke lengths of 302mm front and 302/300 rear using Ultegra 6700 hubs.

Mine have laser etched graphics but with the Ambrosio name only over 3 spoke widths not spread out as I have seen on some other rims. Are these two versions the same?

Yes, the versions are the same. Most likely you measure the ERD factoring in the all 12 mm of the nipples while most of us cut off the head and only factor in 10 mm... you might be ok for 302 front, but 302 for the rear NDS will be a bit on the long side

  • I also think you need to remeasure the ERD. I have built with them too and never managed to measure ERD at 617mm. I think I got *edit* 613mm. I used 7403 hubs which nearly have the same dimensions as ultegra hubs 299mm Lasers on front and 300/298mm Race spokes on the rear. 302mm spokes will be too long. No threads were close to showing on this build.
