[i[/i]Hi I currently have some Bonterage 700 x 23 tyres on a Trek road bike, in the wet I've found them to feel slippery, and with winter on the way, I'm looking to replace these slippery tyres with some new ones, but not sure what size to go for, ie 23 or 25. I only have the one road bike, and some very naff mtb, I commute yr round come rain & snow, on main roads, the commute is only 4 miles each wa, would I notice that much speed/effort difference going from 23 to 25s? Would the 25s give more grip , due to increased contact point, or can I run a decent 23 Tyre year round? Sorry one last question, what does a folding Tyre mean, are they better or worse than a non folding Tyre? Thanks

Use the search function, but as wide as you can fit. Nothing except metal-studded tyres will give you grip on ice and snow.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Folding tyres fold up. they are lighter as there is no heavy wire bead.

As for tyre width wider is more comfortable in general. Really the only way you will know is to try ust buy and try if you like buy again, if you don't don't. This is how all of us have learnt what works for us and what does not. You need to do the same. Sometimes you make bad purchase decisons sometimes you make good ones. We all have made bad bike kit decisions, it is how we all find what what is bad kit for us. It maybe brilliant for someone else though. Stop worrying.

GP4 seasons though are a tired and test tyre for wet weather use.
