Specialized Crossroad Sport or Giant Escape 3?

Hi, this is the first time I will be purchasing a hybrid bike after living off of a secondhand mtb for the past 4 years. I have a limited budget, looking under £350 and have come out with these two bike, the specialized crossroad sport and the giant escape 3. I'm looking for a bike for general everday city use, as well as longer 30 - 50 mile cycles in training for events like London to Cambridge.
Any advice on which one of these two bikes is better quality or better suited for this type of cycling?
