New bike - what size, right choice?

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a beone jade race, reduced to £560. I would have to buy it on the internet, no beone retailers nearby. Is this a bad idea, do I need to check the size in a shop? The sizing is different on these bikes apparently. I am 5 ft 4 and 77.5cm inside leg.

Is this a good choice for my first road bike? I am likely to do long distances (I am a tourer), not at a great speed, and need comfort, good ish components and to cope with Dartmoor, which is a bit mucky in winter.

If any one knows of a beone retailer in south Devon - let me know - (the beone website has a page to find the nearest retailer doesn't work on my browser).

Thanks for any thoughts!

  • I think I'd heard recently that beone had gone to the wall and were no longer trading. I know CRC have theirs all reduced in their sale.
I don't know enough about them to say whether good, bad or indifferent - perhaps someone else will know.
  • thanks whatnoshoeseh, waiting to see if any more replies...difficult to decide what to do!
