Speedplay Light Action Question

I picked up a couple of cheap light action pedals to try out. The metal bit on one of the pedals has dropped out and I wondered if this was a problem and if so could it be replaced?

Looking at the photo, the top side has the metal bit which is missing on the bottom half.

    cleat engages here, with a missing bit you risk accidental unclipping or at least instability

    if it's just for trying out, you could mark the pedal so you can see which half is ok and make sure you only clip-in on that half, though unless it's on the side where you rarely unclip it'd be a hassle

    you can get a rebuild kit with the bodies, but it's not cheap
