Anyone got any recommendations for good road handlebar end/plugs? One of myn fell out on a sportive this weekend... It was one that came with the bike so I would imagine they were pretty cheap things... Any good suggestions for good / nice looking ones which stay in?

I have the screw-in ones on my hybrid, they look identical but are Raleigh branded and cost about the same. They have lasted a few years. I may not put them on my road bike though just from an aesthetic aspect.

Has no-one released a flip over rubber one yet? I was impressed by the Enve design but its not worth paying the extra for another set of carbon bars just to get a decent set of plugs.0

When I lost one of mine - I say lost, but it was coming loose - I just put some super glue on it and reinserted it - no problem.
After all if you replace the tape you get new bar ends any way.0 -
What I'd like are the old sort - by far the most effective solution. They work a bit like rawlplugs. The main part of the plug inserts into the bars easily - and then you push in a centre piece that splays out the lugs that grab the inside of the bar. The plastic wasn't brittle like a lot of the current ones are so the lugs never break. They worked really well, are probably not much heavier than normal ones and look smart. But you can't get them now afaik. If anyone has a single black one I could do with one for my Raleigh Randonneur!Faster than a tent.......0

Just put a bit of insulation tape around the plug to bulk it out a bit. You'll get a set with new bar tape so I would put the money towards some new tape and use the plug until you are ready to change tape.0

Actually end plugs serve a pretty useful safety function in a crash (turning the end of the bar into a blunt object rather than a circular blade) so it's always worth a couple of quid to make sure they're there.Music, beer, sport, repeat...0 -

I recently installed some of these on my wifes bike. Came with some Prologo tape so if you can find a local shop that sells that you might be in luck. I agree though, they should hold up better than normal ones, no chance of one of the splines snapping.0 -
