Helmet Cam advice

Hi, I'm looking for a helmet cam, and since I am pretty clueless as to specs and what quality I'm likely to get (or not get) I thought I'd be best asking some advice. I've been looking at this one on Ebay which, as far as I can tell, is reasonable resolution etc.

I'm not after something amazing, and whilst I know that the standard recommendation is pretty much the GoPro Hero range, I don't want to splash £200+ on a camera. I'm not after top-of-the-range footage, just something that I can video a bit of the stuff I ride and have footage which is watchable.
Thanks!

to be honest,i had a so called sports cam,was hd720p and it shot pure sh1t footage,i had several video clips, and one even looked like i has shot it under water, another made the footage look so slow i thought i was walking, not the 30mph going down a big steep fire road, then bought a Gopro and damn, the difference is really see it to beleive it quality, most cheap ones are cheap for a reason,i had better footage using an old mobile fone than my cameraGiant Reign 2

I would say if you're going to buy one then it's best to spend something above £150
http://www.decathlon.co.uk/g-eye-1080p- ... 73866.html take a look at that.
Or this:

Bear in mind when buying these things, you WILL end up buying extras so factor it into your budget I've spent about £60 on extras because 9 times out of 10 they will only give you the bare bone basics to get started with the camera. If you want to spend a little more then take a look at the Sony action cams are great value aswell:

Other brands that might just be in your budget are Drift cameras and perhaps a Contour. If you can find any second hand Gopros then they would also be great. Hope that helps.0 -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Drift-Innovatio ... ift+camera There's a decent Drift cam.
Here's a cheaper version with only 720p http://www.amazon.co.uk/Drift-HD-720-Ac ... ift+camera
There's a good contour : http://www.amazon.co.uk/ContourROAM2-Ha ... our+camera0 -
Thanks very much guys. I had a feeling it would be a case of you get what you pay for, but I was hoping the lower end stuff would at least be usable if not brilliant.
Will look into a few of those, thanks Rod!0 -
Have a look on the gopro forum, quite often guys have bought a new one and are selling their older one. Any of the gopro range will do what you want, for riding I found the chest mount to work best, with the cam mounted upside down.Bird Aeris. DMR Trailstar. Spesh Rockhopper pub bike.0

You're bang on there Maro If you can get one, a second hand Gopro Hero 2/3 would be fantastic. That £100 Geonaute from Decathlon would do you fine but the difference between that and a Gopro is huge.0

That may be the old Roam but that's a bargain. Snap it up right away, can't go wrong with that camera0

Yep, that's what I mean, before they all sell out!
Contour have gone under, I believe, so the Roam2 cameras will be going dirt cheap in about a year as well.0 -

I bought one of those from Ebay, although my package came with the camera, a USB lead, the tube holder thing and a strip of Velcro to attach it to your lid.
£30 or thereabouts.
You can't expect the quality to be anywhere near a Gopro or similar, but at £30 I wasn't expecting it to.
Here's some unedited footage of it working to give you an idea of quality.
