race ready wheels

So I'm looking at doing some slightly different things next year.
thoughts at the moment are to do a couple of xc races around midlands league and northern series.
My current bike is a giant xtc 2 from 2011 which is pretty much stock apart from seatpost bars tyres and brakes
Biggest area for improvement is in the wheels, current ones without anything attached are around 2100g.
Coming from a road and track background my lightest road wheels are 1100g so this is a massive difference.
I don't want to spend a massive amount as my main focus will still be on track and criteriums but I'd like some nice wheels to race on for xc preferably under 1500g and under £200.
Wondering what your thoughts are.
As I'm upgrading the wheels my other thoughts are to upgrade to a 650b frame and fork and sell off my frame and fork to offset it.
I'm 5 9/10 and weigh 66kg at racing weight so I think a 29er is slightly oversized for me.
Thoughts on a postcard please

not for under £200 - double it to get under 16000

You'll struggle to do much better than Superstar's Stan's offer for that sort of money. You're talking Aksium money, you've not got much choice with regards to weight!0

For £275 (average cost) you can get a set of Mavic Crossman SLR's on the bay. Pre 2010 that is.
I got mine for that which were made in 2009, new bearings run true. Love them.
Front and back weigh 1420g in total.**2011 Cove Stiffee**0
