I'm going to build a TT frame over winter but I've been told not to buy online because of the bike fit? I'm 5-6 and currently have a 52cm specialized and a 52cm Chinese frame so should I go straight for a 52cm TT Frame that's what I was thinking??!

Any advice will help

TT sizing is completely different than road bike sizing. Your position is going to decide what frame you should go for as the differences in geometries of TT frames is far more extreme than what you'll find on road bikes.

Honestly if you've never ridden a TT bike before you really need to see a professional to get fitted.

  • I agree that a test on a bike would be a good idea. I ride a 54 road bike and I bought a 52 TT frame that I built up. Still trying to decide if it's a good fit or not, they really are a totally different beast.

tbh at that height you're going to be buying the smallest frame going.

also depends on what you're spending as to the likelihood of being able to test ride/sit on it
  • Well it seems I jumped the gun and bought a 52cm Dolan TT Frame before I seen these posts! So is the main reason for getting a fitting because of the different geometry?

  • Completely different geometry and you sit on the bike completely differently.
Grill answered you 18 minutes after your first post, but you still went ahead and ordered?
  • I ride a 60cm road bike but ride a 56cm TT bike, TT bike is shorter top tube (important) and lower headset height, this enables me to achieve the TT position be it with Risers on the TT bars.

Congrats. Now sell it and buy the proper size.
