Flat bar to drops conversion
Hi there. I have a Ridgeback Flight, the titanium model:
I'd like to convert it to drop bars. My questions then:
1. Will a set of AVID BB7 or Shimano BR-R515 calipers and the existing FD/RD work properly with an ordinary set of Ultegra brake/shifters?
2. Beyond changing the brakes, is there any reason why this is anything other than a straightforward swap over?
I guess it would be nice if there were a set of hydraulic levers for drop bar bikes that could also handle the shifting, but that product doesn't seem to exist...

I don't know the exact details, but I think it will end up being pretty expensive. For example, I'm not sure the current derailleurs will work with drop-bar shifters.Ben

the rear mech will be fine. The front mech may need swapping for a road specific one (Ultegra, DA etc.)
Not sure about the brakes though. Avid do some mechanical calipers that work with road STI, as I suspect Shimano do.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
